12 day South Island Luxury Coach Tour Itinerary

Greeting - Christchurch - Methven (D)

  • Airport Transfer if required
  • Wine tasting and Dinner at Hintons (Hidden Secrets)
  • Willowbank Kiwi Encounter
  • Transfer to Hintons Winery
Day 1 – Methven to Mt Cook (B/L/D)
  • Visit Barkers Berry complex, and Talbot Cheese maker.
  • Vintage Car and Machinery Museum
  • Photo opportunities at Lake Tekapo, the Church of the Good Shepherd and Bronze sheep dog statue
  • Mt Cook Alpine Salmon Farm, guided tour and fish for lunch.
  • BBQ Lunch at Lake Pukaki
  • Sheep shearing show/demonstration and farmyard animals
Day 2 –Mt Cook – Dunedin (B/L/D)
  • Scenic Flight over Mt Cook and the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre
  • Maori Rock Drawing sighting
  • Dunedin Railway Station
  • NZ Sports Hall of Fame or Cadbury Confectionary
  • First City Tour including Olveston House
  • Speight’s Brewery
Day 3 – Dunedin (B/L/D)
  • Wildlife Tour
  • Taieri Gorge Train excursion
Day 4 – Dunedin – Invercargill (B/L/D)
  • Balclutha
  • A scenic drive via Catlins Coastal route, visiting Curio Bay and the Petrified Forest.
  • Craft Shed visit
  • Bluff and the Stirling Point signpost
Day 5 & 6– Option 1: Invercargill to Manapouri and Doubtful Sound to Te Anau (B/L/D)
  • Browse Southland's Museum and Art Gallery- home of Burt Munro’s exhibition
  • Boat cruise on Lake Manapouri, coach over Wilmot Pass to Doubtful Sound
  • Overnight on Doubtful Sound

Day 5 & 6 Option 2: Invercargill to Manapouri/Doubtful Sound to Te Anau (B/L/D)

  • Browse Southland's Museum & Art Gallery – home of Burt Munro’s exhibition
  • Boat cruise to Manapouri Underground Power Station
  • Doubtful Sound cruise
  • Discover the Te Anau Glowworm Caves
  • Evening meal at a Rural Deer farm restaurant
Day 7 – TeAnau to Queenstown (B/L/D)
  • Milford Sound coach/nature cruise/coach tour
Day 8 – Queenstown (B/L/D) Your choice of one of the following options:
  • TSS Earnslaw Cruise & BBQ lunch
  • Queenstown’s amphibious Duck 90 min tour and lunch
  • Kawarau Jet boat on Lake Wakatipu and entry to the Underwater Observatory
  • Dart River safari including transfers from Glenorchy; includes lunch
  • Guided wine tour, includes tastings, cellar tour, cheese presentation, and lunch
  • Golf: Play the 7th most scenic golf course in the world.
Day 9 – Queenstown to Fox Glacier (B/L/D)
  • Sightseeing tour of Arrowtown, Cromwell and Wanaka
  • Option to add – AJ Hackett Bungy jump
  • Scenic drive through Haast Pass, World Heritage areas
  • Flowing West – the Glacier movie
Day 10 - Fox Glacier (B/D)
  • Half-day Guided Glacier Tour, include transfers
  • Half-day free
Day 11 – Fox Glacier to Punakaiki (B/L/D)
  • Guide Nature Tour: either Lake Mapourika or White Heron Sanctuary (seasonal)
  • Pukekura Bushman's Centre and informative video on the deer recovery days in NZ
  • Visit to Hokitika’s Jade Factory, Glass Blowing Studio and Gold Room
  • Punakaiki Pancake rocks & Blowholes
Day 12 – Punakaiki to Christchurch (B/L/D)
  • Entry to Shantytown to explore the historic buildings, ride a steam train and pan for gold.
  • TransAlpine train ride from Greymouth to Springston
  • Farewell banquet
Following Day (B)
  • Breakfast included.
  • Airport Transfers.

The tour price includes airport transfers, 13 night’s accommodation, 13 cooked or continental breakfasts, 9 lunches, 1 picnic lunch, 13 dinners, daily morning OR afternoon tea, commentaries and film shows, activities listed under tour activities. (Your semi free days are day 6 & 10 - own lunch options)

Airfares, passport and visa fees, travel insurance, excess baggage charges, airport taxes, postage, telephone calls, laundry, optional sightseeing, occasional morning and afternoon teas, drinks, additional hotel accommodation, medical expenses and any items of a personal nature are not included in your trip price.
